Life gets tough sometimes. We all know that. The question is, how to handle it?
I’ve been reading through the Book of Psalms, and I’ve noticed that David often starts his psalms by relating his problems. But by the end of the psalm, he has turned the focus off of him and toward God. He praises God, tells us to do the same, and tells us why He is so good. I’ve learned that even when I am having a hard day or when everything seems to be going wrong, there is still a reason to rejoice! I never HAVE to be sad. Here are three reasons I can rejoice: God is good, He is faithful to those that love Him, and He saved me from my sins.
If you thank God for just those three things, you suddenly realize how many more things God is and has done. Your focus turns from yourself and your problems (the negative) to God and to all He has done for you (the positive). And your feelings and mood will change for the better.
“Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.” Psalm 21:13
“But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.” Psalm 5:11
